It was the gel hole plugs. Had to remove covering below the steering column and the plastic heating ducts to see them. But you could probably replace them without pulling all that stuff. Had a similiar issue months back witht he clutch and those same type plugs. But in any event, for future reference there are 3 that apply in the clutch area and two for the brake $1.94 each at dealership. FYI...Just for giggles I called the Dealership and explained the problem with the brake lights. They would not tell me what the problem was even though it sounded like he knew because he said they could repair it for just under $100.00 Cost me $4.15 and with tax and about 45 mins to do it myself
